What is IDPA ?

From IDPA.com: “IDPA is the use of practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated ‘real world’ self-defense scenarios using practical handguns and holsters that are suitable for self-defense use.  The main goal is to test the skill and ability of an individual.

IDPA at Wayne County Raccoon Hunters Club

All IDPA Matches, Practices, and Classifiers are open to the public. You do not need to be a member of the Raccoon Hunters Club.

IDPA Matches

Our IDPA Match Days are held on the 3rd Saturday of every month,  April thru October.  We run 2 matches with start times of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  In-person Sign-Up / Registration opens one (1) hour before each match and closes promptly 15 minutes before the start of each match (9:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. respectively) to allow the staff time to complete the registration and squadding.   The cost is $20 per shooter.  Any additional matches will be posted in the IDPA Special Events and News section below.  ALL events are also posted in the Events Calendar on the Home Page  of our Website.

The Shooter’s Meeting / Safety Briefing starts 15 minutes before each match.  Everyone registered before that meeting starts,  has 2 chances to win a free pass (value $20) to any IDPA match we run that year.  ( A small token of our appreciation for showing up on time and not disrupting the squads! )

 IDPA Practices

IDPA Practices are held every Wednesday, April thru September.  In-person Sign-Up / Registration opens at 5:00. The cost is $10 per shooter.   Practice starts promptly at 6:00pm.  Any additional practices will be posted in the IDPA Special Events and News section below.  ALL events are also posted in the Events Calendar on the Home Page  of our Website.

Any additional Classifier dates will also be posted here and in the Events Calendar on the Home Page  of our Website.

·         Be sure to arrive 15-20 minutes before your appointment to allow time to register, put all your gear on at the Safe Area, and load your magazines / speed loaders / moon clips.

·         Bring at least 100 rounds (I'd recommend 150 just in case you need to re-shoot a string...)

·         Semi-autos need at least 3 high-capacity magazines. (More would be helpful if you do not have high-cap magazines).

·         Revolvers need at least 3 or more speed-loaders or moon clips. (Please - no speed strips or single-round loading please.)

·         No concealment garment is required.

·         Go directly to the bay where you will classify and be ready to shoot at the time of your appointment.

 IDPA Safety Officer Training.

   IDPA Special Events and News

From Jim Panyard, IDPA Stage Designer:
As you all know we hold special matches on the 5th Saturday of the months that have them.  Saturday, July 29th, 2017 will be a special day as it will be the inaugural match of our three new bays. In honor of this, we will be holding a PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine) match .

The match will only have three stages, but they will be MEGA STAGES  of 50 rounds per stage. All IDPA rules will be in effect and only PCC's will be needed. This will total 150 rounds for the match. We have the bays and we are going to use them.

COST is $20.  In-person sign-up/registration opens at 9:00 a.m. and closes promptly at 9:45 a.m. to allow the staff time to complete the registration and squadding.  The match starts at 10:00 a.m. As with all 5th Saturday IDPA events - we will only be having a morning match.

I hope to see all of you out here with your PCC at your side. No slings will be necessary, as you will not be dumping or hanging your weapon. If you have any questions please feel free to call me at 313-618-9355.

Thank you - Jim Panyard  Phone: (313) 618-9355   -- --   Email: jpanyard@att.net
